Open Class: Art Direction Behind the Scenes with Eduarda Nieto, Érika Moreira, Edi & Abuakwa Siaw-Misa.

In this free class, the speakers will present case studies from two distinct campaigns: Nike, The Dance Awakening, and Sephora, Express All of You.

Throughout the session, each guest will share their perspective on the creative process, from the initial idea to the final execution. They will discuss their creative process, challenges, client feedback and more.

Art Direction Behind the Scenes is a discussion that seeks to unveil the various facets of a single campaign, creating a space for exchanging experiences and addressing questions raised by the participants.

The class will take place on Saturday, October 21st, 3 PM (Brazil) / 2 PM (NY) / 7PM (UK), via Zoom.

Eduarda Nieto is a designer and artist from Bahia, Brazil. Currently working as Associate Creative Director for Apple at Media Arts Lab, Los Angeles. Their work goes across multi-languages in graphic design and advertising with a dedication to heritage and queer culture. They teach the course “Art Direction 101” at Aprender Design. 

Érika Moreira (she/her/hers) is a copywriter from Brasília, Brazil. Currently working at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam .

Her work is a mix of race, history, colonialism, poetry, and feminism. She's had the incredible fortune to team up with some super cool creatives and clients who let her be herself and infuse her beliefs into their brands. In the past years she has been collaborating with global brands such as Nike, Google, Netflix, Evian, Samsung, Duolingo, among others - creating campaigns that make people feel seen and heard.

edi (she/her) works in the creative and audiovisual industry as an production designer creating projects for brands and artists, such as: Havaianas, Tuyo, Puma x Palmeiras, Facebook, Consul, Isaac Silva Brand + SPFW, Terno Rei, Spotify, YouTube Originals e YouTube Shorts, UOL, Google, AFROPUNK, Instagram, AVON, TIM, Nike x Corinthians, Brahma, MOR, Dove, Meta, Netflix and others. 

Abuakwa Siaw-Misa is a Creative Director, Brand Strategist and founder of The Siaw Misa Project. With over twenty years of experience in design and communication. Throughout his career, his focus has been on creating emotional connections through meaningful design. He has executed brand strategies across multiple touch points for a wide range of clients from luxury brands, startups and large established organizations across the globe.

Having worked in the design industry since his early 20s, frustrated, with the lack of representation at a senior level in design and often being the only one who looked like him in the room, Abuakwa founded The Creative African Network in September 2023 with a mission to increase representation, mentor, celebrate, promote and put a spotlight on the next generation of creatives from Africa and the diaspora.
